I successfully concluded my #internship on #aiinhealthcare at #iiitd with Prof Tavpritesh Sethi MBBS, PhD and Prof Ponnurangam Kumaraguru (PK). I was a part of the #covid19 research group, CoronaActionIndia and started by working on simulating the spread of the virus to estimate projections of the number of cases in the months to follow. This project culminated in a paper (preprint). I then moved on to developing a Vaccine Distribution System to accelerate the process once #covidvaccine enters the market. We primarily employed #reinforcementlearning to do this, and this project culminated with another paper whose preprint can be found here. Most importantly, I have gained a holistic perspective on how to conduct scientific research. I was constantly pushed to take initiative and uphold quality and clear communication in my work, two values which I prize personally. Kudos to the brilliant team comprising of Raghav Awasthi, Mehrab Singh Gill, Arshita Bhatt and Aditya Nagori, who have made me feel at home. It would be a pleasure to work with you guys again. :) It has truly been a wonderful experience, with a lot to take away. Thank you!

For my summer internship, I contributed at Tavlab, primarily for the project of VacSIM and undoubtedly it was the best learning experience for me. Working in field of public healthcare + social impact is not easy but my team and I were able to complete the project under excellent guidance of our mentor Tavpritesh Sethi sir. Apart from making healthcare related problem statements and it's technology aspects clear to me, sir pushed me to think big and never stop my thoughts, he gradually helped me to articulate and convey my ideas in a clear manner. The weekly lab meeting made me aware of different public healthcare topics and sources as well as equipped me with ideas for future projects. I grateful to Tavpritesh sir for providing me this opportunity.

My experience at TavLab has been rich and multi-disciplinary. I've had many insightful discussions about the applications and implications of CS and AI on biological as well as medical data, worked on projects which deal with solving real-world and impactful problems such as generating synthetic biological data, they required me to think deep about the science involved and to ask meaningful questions on both the biological as well as CS front.

TavLab has been combining the principles of data science and machine learning for healthcare applications. From analyzing genomes of viruses to sampling synthetic biological data, research here has been multi dimensional. It has made its priority to accommodate research aligning with the current problems faced in the medical community, such as the Covid 19, acting as a prime example how healthcare can be benefited from such diverse multidisciplinary research.

Healthcare has always inspired me due to it's benevolent nature. At TavLab, I got introduced to the possibility of aiding healthcare using computer science. For me this was a golden opportunity to not only stay close to technology and learn more, but also utilise that knowledge for the greater good. Through my research project on thermal imaging in ICUs, we aim to explore contactless monitoring — an effective, accessible, and economical solution for infants and critical patients like the elderly who want to age in place, especially in developing countries with higher risks of hospital-acquired infections and alarmingly low doctor-to-patient ratios. My research motivation is to use technology to make healthcare more effective, equitable, and standardized, and TavLab has been integral in establishing this motivation.

Hi, I'm Pavan and I'm doing my B.Tech Project with TavLab for a year. Bharath and I have been working on establishing empirical data quality parameters and have hence moved on to building a platform in which data can be shared with appropriate consent from all the parties involved and also display insights related to the data available. This project has data science and machine learning components along with web development. It was good to use prior knowledge from coursework and learn new concepts to build a real-life application. Tav Sir was really patient with our work and always inspired us to take the work to the next level.
